Bangkok Trip 23/24 (6) - Another Side of the River - Asiatique The Riverfront

In last chapter, I shard my itinerary - Iconsiam - in 2023, but please let me suddenly turn the time to 2024 since Asiatique is the another side of the river.

August 6, 2024.....

There are many tourism spots along the Chao Phraya River. Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately?) My wife is not too interested in the Royal Palace, Buddhist Temple, etc.

Therefore, we went to Iconsiam in 2023, and visited Asiatique The Riverfront in 2024 and that is.

Below is my experience about Iconsiam:

Bangkok Trip 23/24 (5) - Palace on the River (Iconsiam)

This is the second time we came to Saphan Taksin Station in this 2 years, but I still felt a bit loss and wonder "how to buy a ticket and which boat to board."

I don’t understand Thai and am not good at English so I simply showed the word "Asiatique" to the staff. Pay the tickets and wait for her non-verbal instruction.

I know that the blue boat for tourists is the most expensive one, but it was easier to be a tourist.

Taking a boat to the riverside pier is not a fast process. It takes totally 35 minutes - from boarding, transportation and docking. However, It was fun to stand on the top of the boat and enjoy the views, overlook the Ferris wheel and sailing restaurant at the riverside night market.

(Drinks, Food and Souvenirs)

(A good place for shopping but the price is higher than other night markets.)

There are many covered and air-conditioned places in the shopping area. You can ger rid of hot summer in this market. This retains a bit of market and carnival atmosphere, and also brings a bit of the comfort of a shopping mall.

Restaurant on boat, but I am quite sure the boat cannot move.

There are many different entertainment attractions such as Ferris wheel, carousel, haunted house and shemale show. Coupled with other beautiful decorations, it is definitely a good shopping experience for tourists.

Long time ago, the pier was for logistics purpose.

However, the prices of restaurants and souvenirs are about 30 to 40% higher than other places in Bangkok, which is not very attractive for us who have just finished our lunch in Copper Buffet.
