Universal Studio Japan (Osaka) 8 - Universal Wonderland and Others

"It is so Hot....." (This is What the kids said in August 2023)

After coming out of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, our kids felt tired.

We entered USJ, went directly to Minions Park, then went to Jurassic Park, Super Nintendo World and Harry Potter. We had completed a lap in USJ.

Return to the "Universal Wonderland" next to the main gate. This is an area focusing on Hello Kitty, Cookies Monster, and Snoopy, the ride and attractions are less exciting and children oriented. The queuing time of them was 30 minutes only. Moreover, it is a beautiful area for photo taking and taking rest.

(I would like to experience this Snoopy ride, but I had not enough time to do so.)

In Universal Wonderland, there is a very large indoor playing area. It is a suitable place for children and toddlers.

(It is necessary to have drink during Summer. I loved this one which was tasty but not expensive.)

4:20 pm, after a break we watched Jujutsu Kaisen The Real 4D (It is periodic attraction and the theme had been changed to Detective Conan now, so I won't spend time to describe.)

The Show was in Japanese. I think Detective Conan would be the same.

Watched the 4D show, we moved to the last attractions in USJ - Doraemon XR ride. The theme of ride had been changed to Kimetsu no Yaiba in 2024. It is a exciting ride with VR effect. My kids loved this ride even more than Mario Kart and Harry Potter.

I will recommend to experience even though the characters and story has been changed. Undoubtedly it will cause a bit dizzy for me so I arranged to experience this before I left.

Following the crowd home, our kids keep discussing everything just happened in USJ.

In the early morning, we were too rush and had not paid attention to surroundings. Actually there were many restaurants and shops nearby USJ gate.

"Let go to Osaka again!" When I planned to have our family tour in 2025, my daughter gave me this suggestion.

I took out the Petry Piranha and "talked" to it. Watched it shaking head according to the sound, I was looking back this wonderful experience......

Recently, I looked for USJ and found this introduction about top 10 attractions in USJ. A bit similar to what I am thinking.

"Hey Daddy, let plan to USJ again!"

"No, it is too expensive."

In my opinion, even if I have only one day in Osaka, I will consider including USJ in my itinerary. The purely concern is Money.

Universal Studio Japan (Osaka) Part 7 - Our Forbidden Journey

While Super Nintendo World has drawn a lot of attentions, Harry Potter is still an attraction of great charm.

In the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you will meet a lot of "students" in Hogwarts uniforms walking around, regardless of summer or winter.

Apart from Koopa's Challenge, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is another reason for the tourist waiting at USJ gate during dawn.

The express pass saved us from the hardship of 2-hours queuing. At this time, the staff gave us a very big card. I didn't understand how it worked when I was holding, what I could do is following the guide and finally came to a place full of lockers.

There are people coming in and out the locker area, putting things in and taking things out. It feels very messy, but there are also a lot of staff keeping people flowing so we can still found our way.

This is the ride with locker provided. The entry requirement of this attraction is "no belonging can be carried". I was a bit nervous and worried that I would become dizzy and uncomfortable after experience.

However, for this "MUST TRY" attraction, you may feel bad for throwing up your lunch, but this experience is even better than feeling regret for missing this experience.

I put all our bags into the locker but there was a big problem - My Nintendo shopping bag was too big for the locker.

"No worry, it is ok" The Japanese staff told me to queue up with this big bag without hesitation.

(Above is the shopping bag I mentioned to all of you. To save some money and time I carried this for in the whole USJ itinerary. For me, it is not necessary to reserve locker in USJ.)

Before getting on the ride, there was a long bench for the tourists to put their shopping bags. Finally I made clear why the staff asked us to lock every belongings except this big shopping bag.

We got the ride on the non-stoppable aisle. There were many staffs came around us simultaneously to fasten several seat belts and we were about to take off.

You can have a rough idea about this experience by youtube... But I am quite sure you will have a different and unprecedented enjoyment when you experience this attraction.

Sitting on a magic broomstick, following Harry and Ron flying through many classic Harry Potter scenes, from Hogwarts School, Quidditch field, Decisive battle with Voldemort...

Even if you didn't understand Japanese like me, you could still enjoy this wonderful magical experience.

This is an attraction established ten years ago but I was still attracted by the special visual effects. Moreover, the swinging force was not so strong for me and the overall feeling was perfect! Highly recommended attraction!

Compared with Koopa's Challenge, Harry Potter is a bit inferior in colour resolution and interactive.

However, the excitement of riding a broom up and down is the fantastic experience that you cannot experience in Mario Kart.

Another attraction in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is "Flight of the Hippogriff", which is a roller coaster that focuses on speed and turn.

This attraction is special in this experience time - extremely short! If you easily get dizzy when experience exciting ride, please feel free to try this. There is no time for you to become dizzy!
Before you wanted to vomit, the experience had been finished. Therefore, do not spend too much time for queue if you have time limitation.

After we hac experienced "Flight of the Hippogriff", 4 out of 7 express pass attractions had been completed. This was 3:00 pm and we continuec our itinerary in USJ.

Universal Studio Japan (Osaka) Part 6 - Harry Porter and His Magic Wand

This is around 14:30

We entry the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. When you bought express pass, there is an time entry for this area. However, the time period is meaningless because there is NO entry limit for this area now.

The express pass time for Forbidden Journey was 14:50 so we went to Jaws in Amity Village first.

One of the attractions in our express pass package is selective - either "Hollywood Dream - The Ride" or "Jaws". The former one is still very popular as an old roller coaster ride with high excitement.
However, we really did not dare to have so exciting experience so we went to Jaws.

(I was pretty sure that if I forced them to try Hollywood Dream the Ride, I will be the one who suffers in the end.)

(I am not really familiar with the story about Jaws. I was too young during the film show.)

(The queuing time for Jaws is 45 minutes. For the express pass holder, just 10 seconds.)

This is the adventure ride. "No Smoke, no photo, no food...." The was the only phrase that I could understand in the whole tour. I guessed the story was "we originally joined a happy trip but suddenly we were attacked by sharks…..Finally we overcame and come back to the pier.

The Japanese tour guide was very involved in her performance. My son was a bit scared, but his younger sister was happy to watch it. For me - the scene of Jaws showing its fins beside the boat, the atmosphere created by the sound effects was good .

"The staff performs hundreds of times every day but still professional. What are great performance, is that right?"

I encouraged my kids to give her more applause to this dedicated cast member.

Having just escaped from the mouth of Jaws, it was time for us to enter the magical world.

Whether you are a Harry Potter fan or not, this area is worth visiting as it perfectly restores the scene and environment showing in Harry Potter movie.

My daughter took out the magic wand borrowed from her classmate and try some magical effect in several small attractions.

You can wave your magic wand according to the pattern indicated on the instruction guide in several assigned "magical area" in this area to cause interesting effect,

These attractions are quite interesting. The more precise the gesture of waving the magic wand, the greater the effect of the magic.

If you wave your wand in the "most precise way", all the treasure boxes can be opened and there is steam sprayed from the train. If you could not follow precisely, just 1 or 2 boxes would be opened, or even no effected can be activated.

(This elder man an experienced visitor and he can activate all the effect easily!!!)

(Another magical point, try to open the door lock but not success.)

(This magic is to make the flags waving.)

The queue time for each mini magical attraction was around 15-20 minutes. However, if there is a staff guiding the visitors, she will not allow you share the wand with your family members - one people one wand.

This staff taught my kid how to activate the magic but she stopped her to pass her wand to my son.
Therefore, my son had to queue again to experience this.

The magical attractions are good option if you still have time before fast pass entry. However, I do not recommend each members to have their own wand, as it is too heavy to bring these around in USJ.

Universal Studio Japan (Osaka) 5 - Kinopio's Café

I have a bad impression of restaurants in theme parks by their limited choices, high prices and poor quality. So in Hong Kong, I will bring some snack with me for my basic need and then go out for meal after experience.

There is a very good reputation for the food in USJ. Kinopio's Café is one of the most popular place in Nintendo World. Therefore, in my family briefing, I have told the kids - Try to have meal in Kinopio's Café but it cannot be guaranteed.

After Yoshi's Adventure, we arrive this cafe according to the reserved time. The Chef Kinopio and his colorful menu whetted our appetite.

He was speaking in Japanese so I had no idea what he was saying. By the way he was so cute!

Enter the restaurant, queue up, and then move to the counters for food ordering.

There is one thing that impressed me - seat arrangement. After you ordered the food, what you have to do is to wait for the staff assigning table for you. You and your family are not needed to walk around and guess who finish their meal first.

From queue, order and had a table, it spent 15-20 minutes only.

The overall good price is not high, too. Just similar to the fast food in Hong Kong theme parks.

For example, the price of the ice coffee is just half compared with Hong Kong.

The overall arrangement, food appearance, taste, and quality are all impressive.

The outlook of them were fantastic!!

This mushroom actually is a pizza containing some sauce. I highly recommend it. It is delicious and beautiful

My daughter loved the Yoshi spaghetti at the light bottom corner of above photo. She liked to eat Yoshi Egg so much!

Everything I asked my kids which is the most favorite restaurant you ever tried. They answered,'Kinopio's Café" it is a bit exaggerated but this meal was really impressive for my family.
I agreed this is the best meal experience in this Osaka trip.
